West End Partners has run many DiSC workshops for both small and large groups. Here’s the story behind one of our recent engagements:

CHALLENGE

The legal contracts team at a fast growing, global biotech company based in the SF Bay was having internal communication issues. There were often miscommunications because of work styles and communication preferences with those they supported within the broader company. Collectively, they wanted to improve how they worked within the team and across the functions that they supported as internal clients.

SOLUTION

Based on the situation, West End suggested using the DiSC Workplace as a tool to help the team understand their individual communication preferences, and how their preferences came together as a team. We designed and facilitated an interactive half-day workshop that provided an opportunity for participants to understand what made their communication style unique and how those meshed with others on their team and across the organization.

To maintain engagement, we used exercises in which people could experience visceral reactions to being with people who share the similar preferences and those who don’t. In order to make it applicable in their ongoing work, we provided tools to help identify the other peoples’ preferences and practical ways to adjust to them.

RESULTS

As part of our design, we include followups to reinforce and sustain the learning in the months that follow.
